Lakeside Chamber Music Workshop

2012 LCMW will take place July 16 - 20 [Monday to Friday] at Lake Forest College, Lake Forest, IL.

LCMW is a week-long workshop for adults who want to deepen their knowledge of string quartet repertoire and strengthen their collaborative music skills.

PROGRAM

New groups will be formed on a daily basis, excluding pre-formed groups, who have the option to stay together the entire week. Coaches will rotate among groups. Daily activities will include two hours of coaching each morning and afternoon. Late-afternoon concerts will allow participants to hone their performance skills. Evenings will be free for participants to read music or prepare for the next day’s activities. There will be one evening of instrumental master classes. FACILITIES

LCMW will take place at Lake Forest College in Lake Forest, Illinois (www.lakeforest.edu). The campus is ideally located in the northern suburbs of Chicago, on the shores of Lake Michigan. All activities will be held in the classrooms, practice rooms, and concert hall of the music building, Reid Hall. These facilities are all situated near the dormitories, student union and cafeteria.

Lake Forest is a 30-minute drive from downtown Chicago, and accessible from Chicago and Kenosha via Metra trains. It is a 60-minute drive from downtown Milwaukee. For directions, go to the Lake Forest College website.

ELIGIBILITY

Participants are expected to have instrumental skills at the intermediate level or above, and to have prior chamber music or orchestral experience. The workshop is limited to six string quartets. Participants can register as a group or individually.

COST

Tuition: $650/person
Room and Board (3 meals): $50/day
Board only: $21.50/day
